Forever Georgian

Building on Known and Loved

RSGC is embarking on a project to physically transform our Senior School, and to build a sustainable financial foundation for the College – our goal is to ensure the continuation of, long into the future, the unparalleled student experience we provide.

The RSGC Guarantee is our promise that our students are Known and Loved. This is the very essence of being Georgian. But we know that the Georgian experience doesn’t just happen, that it only comes about with commitment and investment. It must be cultivated and nurtured.

We know that students need classrooms and spaces to gather, and that buildings and facilities need attention and modernization as time passes. We know that tuition covers much of the cost of an education, but not the needed growth of physical improvements required for our school to remain great.

Senior School Transformation

Underway is a $15 million, five-year, multi-phased, complete renovation of our Senior School. Led by renowned architect Tye Farrow the transformation of the Senior School will be more than just creating beautiful spaces, we will build an environment that will bring health and wellness, enrich learning, and offer greater collaboration and relationship building in flexible, spacious, bright and engaging spaces.

Every corner will emerge transformed when the renovations are complete:

List of 6 items.

  • Centre for the Arts

Located beneath our beautiful Chapel, a new Centre for the Arts will bring together the visual, media and musical arts at RSGC, building a stronger sense of community among the disciplines. The new space will heighten artistic and creative collaboration and promote artistic expression and allow imaginations to soar.  The New Centre for the Arts will feature three main areas – one dedicated to choral and instrumental music, another for our visual and media arts program, and a third collaborative meeting space. The first phase was finished in the summer of 2024.
  • Student Commons

Designed to be an inviting town square for students – a place where friends gather and conversations fill the air – the Senior School Student Commons will be marked by walls of windows creating a space bathed by natural light and opening views of the trees in St. Alban’s Square. The Student Commons will provide open and flexible seating and have an outdoor patio area allowing Georgians to be students, to catch up, to build friendships, to work together, and to find quiet moments. This phase is scheduled to begin the summer of 2025.
  • Atrium

A tower of light is the perfect description of the planned Senior School Atrium. A grand central staircase, allowing for a smooth flow of pedestrian traffic through the Senior School will rise the full height of three floors, topped with a skylight roof, creating a bright and airy, welcoming indoor space, offering a respite from any sense of being enclosed.
  • Spacious, Bright, Functional Classrooms

Every classroom in the Senior School (including the judo dojo) will be transformed into an enriched, bright and inspirational learning environment. Each classroom will be fully functional according to contemporary teaching and learning practices and feature enhancements for health and wellbeing. An additional three, new, full-sized classrooms are planned (one on each floor). The new ground floor classroom will be equipped specifically as a modern space for science instruction and learning.  Functionally and technically, all classrooms will meet or exceed current educational benchmarks for classroom design, with the latest teaching technologies and tools enabled.  All will be appealing and engaging spaces – beautiful, modern, rich in light and air – allowing students to do their best learning.
  • Suite for Administration

A new administrative ‘nerve center’ will provide modern, bright and functional space in which staff and faculty can do their best work in support of our students. A renovated Senior School will have a more obvious and welcoming ‘address’; one that also offers a new home to the Senior School leadership team – the Suite for Administration will be located in a key space in the school, just off the new entry and become the Senior School’s ‘nerve center.’
  • Finishing Touches

No detail will be missed in the Senior School transformation. All general and transitional spaces, every aspect and piece of the school will fit; beautifully and functionally aligning with our ‘enriched environment’ vision of the renovation. Accessibility is also fully considered with a new elevator included in the plans.

Ways to Support

In order to ensure our students continue to learn, thrive and flourish, we invite your partnership and support in:
  1. Reshaping our Senior School
  2. Offering financial assistance to more families
We invite you to learn more about our ambitions, and how you can partner with us to bring them to life.  With your support we can make it happen.

Financial Assistance for More Families

The second goal of our Forever Georgian capital campaign is to ensure a financially sustainable and accessible college, so that we can bring the Georgian experience to a broader community, and ensure the success of our College well into the future.

Over the next five years we hope to broaden our financial assistance program to include more students, and to have donations cover all of the immediate costs of tuition and associated needs of each assisted student.  One of the goals of the College’s strategic plan is to build a more diverse experience and school, making RSGC more accessible to more families. And financial assistance is a means of achieving that goal. We foresee being able to provide for a more significant percentage of our student population receiving financial assistance. Our plans also include strengthening the financial assistance program itself so that it is more proactive in its outreach to students receiving or in need of support, as well as having a strategy to attract students from communities not currently represented at the College.

Building a Strong Foundation on Long-term, Stable Financial Footing

Over the next five years, we hope to double the RSGC endowment to 6 million dollars.  The majority of our endowment fund works to provide important things such as financial aid.  As we work in partnership with our donors to build the fund, we will focus endowment monies, as well, on ‘unrestricted’ fund use, which is also highly important to student success, providing the College with great flexibility in supporting (and planning for) a full range of school needs and priorities in support of our students. With a healthy endowment fund we can quickly respond to changing student needs and pursue innovative programs and approaches as pedagogical and education methodologies shift in a changing world.

Join Me As We Work to Ensure RSGC’s Place as a Great School

– A Message from Headmaster Stephen Beatty

It’s time!

Royal St. George’s College is a great school; a greatness evidenced by the boys we ‘grow up’ into great young men, men who go into the world and make their communities better.

My parents chose this school for me for the same reason I was so proud to bring my sons here.  This is a school where character, manners, kindness and the pursuit of excellence are woven into everything we do.  This has been our bedrock for over 60 years since our Founders opened the doors of the school in 1964.

I proudly became the sixth Headmaster of the College in 2011.  I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside almost a generation of young men as they’ve grown up. I’m especially proud of the evolution of the campus during my tenure here. The expansion of See House, the construction of the Black Box Theatre and the parking garage, the gorgeous transformation of Ketchum Hall and the complete renovation of the Junior School are projects that I’m proud to have led.

My work as Headmaster is not done. It’s time to turn our attention to the Senior School and, in continued partnership with Tye Farrow – who was the Board Chair at the time I was hired, and has brought imagination, vision and his love of the College to his design – we have something special within reach.

Imagine, with increased funding for student financial aid, more amazing boys being able to access the remarkable education we provide. Imagine a solid financial future for RSGC that allows us to fulfill our Mission long into the future. This is the Royal St. George’s College for our children’s children.

Join us for this journey to secure RSGC’s place as a great school. With your support this beautiful vision will be realized.  Please join me as we make this vision a reality.

Our Architect, Tye Farrow

Internationally acclaimed architect, Tye Farrow, is deeply committed to Royal St. George’s College. He is the dad of two RSGC graduates and a former Chair of the College’s board of governors. And, his transformative designs already adorn much of our campus, reflecting his pioneering approach in linking architecture to wellness. Just as he enhanced our Junior School, Tye’s design plans for the Senior School prioritize creating spaces that foster holistic student development – promoting physical and mental wellbeing, and intellectual growth. He is renowned for his groundbreaking work exploring the intersection of architecture and wellbeing, that draws on insights from cognitive psychology and neuroscience to forge health-supportive, person-to-place relationships.
“Transformative says it all. We are excited for what the remake of our Senior School will mean for the continued success of our students, and our ability to continue to deliver an exceptional student experience. The remade Senior School will provide optimized teaching and learning environments and bring students and faculty together to engage socially and academically.”

Campaign Leadership

Message from our Campaign Chairs

Joanna Rotenberg and Andrew Armstrong ’88 (Robbie ’27 and Charlie ’29)

We are delighted to serve as Co-Chairs of the RSGC Capital Campaign. We have been Georgians since Andrew attended the school in the 1980s. While a lot has changed since then, what has never changed is the special experience this school brings to each of our boys, who are known and loved. We know that our surroundings play a meaningful role in our success.

We’re excited to support improvements to the Senior School so its environment and facilities can match the school’s many other outstanding qualities.

We look forward to working with the school and the parent and alumni community to support this critical effort!

Message from the Board

Alyssa Pei, RSGC Board Chair

The Board is excited to be serving at a time of great transformation at the College. As a Board, we are committed to supporting the faculty and staff to deliver on the College’s mission — to challenge and inspire each boy to be the best version of himself. As Board Chair, my role includes a focus on the College’s long-term sustainability to be able to serve future generations of Georgians. Investing in our facilities ensures a dynamic learning environment that energizes both teachers and students. Growing our endowment allows us to reach more potential Georgians, support our faculty and staff and secures our future. We cannot do this without your vital support. Whether through donations or volunteerism, you can make a significant impact.

Together we can create a sustainable future for Royal St. George’s College, its students and the generations of students who will follow.
